ZVONIMIR BOBAN became the head of European football. He will hold a position that no one has ever held in Uefa’s history, and this position was created exclusively for him (UEFA President).
Boban previously served as the deputy secretary-general of FIFA, the world umbrella football organization. He served in this position for three years, and then he was invited to serve as Milan Sports Director. However, due to poor performance and the relationship with the club’s head, he did not stay in San Siro for too long.
UEFA explained in the decision that there is no boss in European football and President Alexander Seferin only hopes that Boban will fill the gaps in the organizational plan.
Boban will have strong powers and responsibilities. He will be responsible for relations with leagues and clubs, calendar revision, cup and league coordination, and VAR management in UEFA competitions.
