At first, the woman disassembled the toilet chair and then used dog leashes for trying to get the phone. She eventually used the leashes as a way to tie herself to the phone.
Washington firefighters saved a woman who had dropped her cellphone in an outhouse in the national forest.
Brinnon Fire Station Chief Tim Manly reported that the woman, who was on the summit of Mount Walker in Olympic National Forest northwest Seattle, was using her phone at the time it fell into the bathroom.
Manly stated that she had disassembled the toilet seat. She used dog leashes in an attempt to retrieve the phone. Manly eventually used the leashes as a way to secure herself while reaching for it. She fell headfirst into the toilet after her failed attempt.
“They didn’t work very well and in she went,” Manly said.
The woman, who was unaccompanied, tried to get up for about 10 to 15 minutes. Manly stated that she was reunited with her phone and called 911.
The firefighters who responded passed the blocks to her to make sure she could stand to get to a harness which was used to pull her out from the vault. Brinnon Fire Station stated that the woman was fine.
She was washed down and “strongly encouraged to seek medical attention after being exposed to human waste, but she only wanted to leave,” the department said.
“I’ve been doing this for 40 years, and that was a first,” Manly said.
