Joe Biden announced Thursday $800 million in new military assistance to Ukraine’s military in order to repel Russian forces from Donbass. He also swears that Vladimir Putin will “never succeed” in occupying Ukraine.
“We are in a critical period where they will prepare the ground for the next phase of this war”, underlined the American president about Russia.
According to the American president, the United States and its allies are stepping up to supply Ukraine with “the weapons it needs” as quickly as possible.
According to the Pentagon, this new tranche of assistance for Ukraine consisted of 72 Howitzer howitzers with their vehicles, 144,000 shells, and 121 Phoenix Ghost tactical unmanned drones.
A senior official from the US Department of Defense stated that these drones were developed quickly by the US Air Force to fulfill specific requests from Ukraine.
According to a second Pentagon official, the first armaments from this new tranche will be delivered in Ukraine “by Saturday”.
This new tranche of $800million brings Ukraine’s aid to $4 billion since Joe Biden was inaugurated. It also includes $3.4 Billion since the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2004, the Pentagon stated.
Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian President, thanked Joe Biden via a tweet.
“This help is needed now more than ever! It saves the lives of our fighters, democracy, freedom, and it will help us restore peace,” he said.
