Max Verstappen is not worried that he will not be able to drive many cars in the second free practice of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. The Red Bull Racing driver’s car stalled early and could not be repaired in time.
In the afternoon, Verstappen ran five laps in the race at Imola, when he reported to his team a malfunction via the car radio. Then he parked the car aside and returned to the pit lane.
Verstappen himself said: “I had a problem with the drive shaft and had to stop the car. After this meeting, it was difficult for us to tell our state, but it was not shocking.” website.
“We have to look at the things that can be improved tomorrow from a balanced perspective and make sure that everything will not be interrupted. It really bothers us, but we also know what to do, so I think it will be good.”
Verstappen recorded the third fastest time in the first free practice on Friday. He is not even one-tenth slower than Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton.
Verstappen said: “It’s no surprise that Mercedes has performed well here. We have to focus on ourselves and do better, and then we can see where we are compared to Mercedes.”
The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix is the second race of the season. Hamilton won in Bahrain three weeks ago with an advantage over Verstappen (second place) in a nervous game.
