On Friday in Lisbon, UEFA will discuss the possibility of abolishing the away goal rule, which in the knockout stage will benefit the team that is tied for more points in the away game.
In April of this year, some Italian media wrote an article saying that UEFA is considering revising it, after discussing the abolition of the rule. That is, it was expected that if the result was tied after 180 minutes of the match, the rule would remain in effect, and the rule would be abolished in overtime.
However, new information provided by the British Times stated that the rule may be completely abolished after 56 years of implementation.
If the UEFA committee accepts the proposed changes on Friday, a revolutionary process to change the rules of football games will follow.
