Since his arrival in Milan, Mario Mandžukić has only played five times, and from the beginning, he has only played against the Red Stars in the European League in Belgrade. He was neither a scorer nor an assistant in any of Milan’s goals, but due to a muscle injury, he has missed 10 consecutive games.
All this led to the publication of an article by the Italian Tuttosport in the print edition entitled “Mandzukic, what a failure. Zlatan could not rest as an Ibar substitute”.
The title clearly points out the problem. Since Mandzukic last played for Milan on February 18th, he has not been able to do it. Since then, he has been missing due to a muscle injury, which is an expected danger considering his age of 34 and no competition for nearly a year.
The Croatian striker only spent 158 minutes on the court, and after a long break there, his level was no longer as good as the old Mandzukic. Although no one questioned his experience and professionalism, so far, he has not benefited Milan at all.
Tuttosport wrote that Mandzukic must prove himself to Stefan Pioli after recovering because the club currently has no intention to extend the contract, which expires at the end of the season.
