Benin’s President Patrice Raptor is expected to re-elect 86% of the votes. According to the election commission announced tonight, almost no one knows the interim results of the opponent’s opposition to the presidential election.
Genevieve Boko Nadjo, Vice Chairman of the Autonomous National Electoral Commission (CENA) said: “The duo of Patrice Talon and Mariam Talata (the candidate for vice president) was in the first round. The vote won a majority of votes.”
She added that the turnout rate was 50.17%.
Observers from CEDEAO (Economic Community of West African States) found that the participation rate was low, and then increased slightly. Observers from the International Organization of Francophonie (OIF) pointed out that the mobilization was weak throughout the day.
The Constitutional Court will check all the data in the next few days and announce the final result.
President Talon of Benin has no opposition in the Parliament, the Constitutional Court, or the municipality run by the ruling party. So far, the opposition has not reacted to announcing his victory.
