“Forbes” announced on its regular annual rankings that the Dallas Cowboys remain the most valuable sports club in the world.
The most popular NFL team is worth $5.7 billion, followed by the New York Yankees at $5.25, and the third New York Knicks is worth $5 billion. Real Madrid and Barcelona ranked fourth with US$4.7 billion each.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones bought the team for $150 million in 1989, and the Steinbrenner family bought the Yankees in 1973 and only $8.8 million was paid.
Despite the severe economic crisis, the value of the top 50 clubs increased by an average of 9.9%. In the past five years, PSG has benefited the most, as its value has jumped by an incredible 207% since 2016. Liverpool “increased” by 165% and Manchester City increased by 108%.
