Rescuers and volunteers are looking for 12 people missing due to the transportation disaster along the coast of Louisiana in the United States. They were riding on an elevator ship that capsized in the Gulf of Mexico yesterday. This happened 13 kilometers from the coast of Fuchun Port.
Elevator ships are used to transport heavy equipment to oil facilities in the Gulf of Mexico. It has three stretchable legs that are 75 meters long, and they can stand on the seabed.
Rescuers have found a dead person from the water. A Coast Guard ship or other vessel took the six survivors aboard.
The U.S. Coast Guard does not rule out the presence of survivors on board. The bad weather made it more difficult to find the victims. A Coast Guard official answered reporters’ questions: “We have hope.” “If we are not optimistic, we will not be able to complete this work.”
