When can I pay IMI by what method?
The first payment deadline for IMI (Municipal Property Tax) is still in progress, and the upper limit is May 31. This tax should be paid by the taxpayer who owns real estate under his personal or company name during 2020.
IMI can be paid in the following ways:
1. Installment payment, In May, if the total amount is less than 100 Euros;
2. Two installments, In May and November, the price is between 100 Euros and 500 Euros;
3. Three phases, May, August and November prices exceed 500 Euros.
However, if you choose, the taxpayer will be able to pay in full (until May 31).
If the payment fails for any reason, the taxpayer will be punished financially. Immediately, a debt certificate will be drafted in your name, which will trigger the tax foreclosure process in the next moment.
The main consequences of this non-compliance will be twofold. The first will be the payment of default interest (the amount paid for delay in fulfilling tax obligations), and set it to 4.705% in 2021; the second consequence will be that the remaining installments are due immediately, that is, the loss of the total amount The right to divide the amount has to be paid in installments that are not yet due.
Thereafter, the taxpayer will continue to voluntarily repay the debt within 30 days from the date of notification. At the end of this period, if the taxpayer continues to default, he may see the property being pledged, or even if it is not intended to be used in permanent self-owned housing, it may even be judicially sold to repay the debt.
