Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated that Hungary will vaccinate 40% of the population by next week.
This Central European country with a population of 10 million has battled the deadliest coronavirus wave in recent weeks, and as of yesterday, its death rate was the highest in the world.
Faced with the uncertain 2022 election war, Alban has been trying to balance his efforts to fight the pandemic with the constant calls to restore the economy and avoid a serious recession for the second year in a row.
Orban said: “There are 4 million people who have received the vaccination. I think it will be done next Wednesday or Thursday. We will provide a wide range of services for those who have a vaccination certificate.”
The Hungarian Prime Minister added: “This will include the interiors of hotels, restaurants, theaters, cinemas, stadiums, sporting events, swimming pools, museums, libraries and zoos. This sounds like normal life.”
The number of hospitalizations and the number of patients using ventilators that peaked in April has declined. At the same time, according to EU data, Hungary has implemented the fastest vaccination program in Europe. With the massive delivery of vaccines in China and Russia and the increase in the supply of vaccines in the West, Hungary will soon be able to vaccinate minor citizens and people living in other countries.
Orban said that Hungary has always been the subject of criticism because Hungary began to use vaccines from China and Russia before the EU approved the vaccine.
He said: “I don’t care if the cat is black or white. I just want him to catch mice.”
