It is a fact that KPN and APG have established a joint venture for optical fiber installation. The joint venture company is called Glaspoort and is located in Amsterdam.
The plan of the joint venture was even slightly adjusted, adding 75,000 households. In total, they hope to connect 750,000 households and 225,000 companies.
Glaspoort will invest more than 1 billion euros in the next five years for the launch of optical fiber. The required construction capabilities and external financing are guaranteed, and Glaspoort can quickly start fiber optic deployment, and it is expected that there will be more than 70,000 fiber connections this year.
The new network company has an open network strategy. Although KPN is the main tenant on the network, Glaspoort provides access to external parties who choose to do so. Therefore, end users can choose the telecommunications company of their choice, thereby promoting competition and innovation in the Netherlands.
