After the American manufacturer asked 16 airlines to solve the power problem, American Airlines has landed more than 60 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that Boeing has informed them of its proposal to temporarily suspend the use of certain aircraft in order to solve production problems. The FAA said it has contacted airlines and manufacturers and will ensure that the problem is resolved.
For safety reasons, after two accidents caused 346 deaths, the 737 MAX plane was grounded for 20 months in November last year for safety reasons.
Southwest Airlines withdrew 30 of 58 aircraft, American Airlines withdrew 17 from 41, and United Airlines withdrew 16 from 30. It is not clear when the aircraft will resume service.
A Boeing spokesperson said that the problem had nothing to do with the critical safety system related to the accident, which was called “MCAS.”
