Indian football player Sunil Chetri helped India beat Bangladesh (2:0) with two goals in the World Cup qualifiers, surpassing Lionel Messi in the number of goals scored by the national football team.
Chetri has now scored 74 goals for India, two more goals than Messi in the Argentine jersey. After Messi scored two goals (4:0) against Malaysia, he was also overtaken by Ali Mabuhot from the United Arab Emirates. The number one on the list of active football players is Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored 103 goals for Portugal.
“Our captain Sunil Chetri has once again achieved great success, surpassing Messi and becoming the second best scorer in national football among active players. Congratulations to the captain and hope he will continue to achieve success,” said the Federation of India.
Let us remind you that the chooser of the Indian national team is the former Croatian football player and former selector of the Croatian national team Igor Stimak.
