The President, Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the Mali Interim Government have been arrested by a group of military personnel. Several international news agencies reported on this based on government and military sources. The three would have been taken to a military base northwest of the capital Bamako.

Several military officers have been appointed to ministerial posts, but two officers have just been expelled from the government.

Years of restlessness
