CHELSEA and Porto will start the quarter-finals of the Champions League in Seville at 9pm tomorrow night. Mateo Kovačić announced the news from an English perspective.
“Porto is an excellent team and we saw it play against Juventus. He eliminated a strong opponent and showed unity and teamwork. The port players are united and fighting together. A difficult game is waiting. With us, but everyone in the Champions League is working hard, and we are ready for it,” Kovacic said.
One of the questions the reporter asked the Croatian midfielder of the London team was to comment on the speech of his former teammate Pepe. Pepe said he was celebrating at Chelsea after drawing lots to contact Porto.
”No. Since we shared the locker room for three years, it is strange to hear Pepe say this. I don’t know what he meant, whether he really said that. But no, not at all. I didn’t celebrate, because while playing for Real Madrid, I learned that there are no happy or easy opponents at this stage. Porto is a difficult situation for us,” said Kovac, who concluded:
Pepe is a great person and a great teammate. I am grateful for the time I spent with him in Real Madrid. He is great and I love him. He is an amazing teammate and we all know what he brings to the team. But rest assured, our forwards are accustomed to confronting powerful opponents. We will be ready,” Kovacic concluded.
