In six days, Croatia will open the European Cup at the fabulous Wembley Stadium. The opponent cannot be heavier. The host, England, is one of the top favourites of this tournament.
The England team has participated in the European Championships as many as nine times, but has never reached the finals. The Three Lions have high hopes, and the first step the host must take on the road to glory is the world runner-up Croatia.
It was these two teams that met in the semifinals of the World Cup in Russia three years ago, and then Croatia celebrated 2:1 after overtime.
One of the tragedies of that game was Harry Kane, who hit the goal post with three meters in the 1-0 England game.
England have high hopes for their top scorer, and Kane could not be sure of his first game with Croatia due to a minor injury.
England coach Gareth Southgate will make a decision on Kane’s performance one or two days before the game or on the day of the game.
The Tottenham Hotspur striker accepted an interview with a British reporter today and explained why Gordy Albion is stronger today than three years ago.
“Our situation may be better than three years ago. Maybe then we were not sure where we were as a team, but we played very well and got into the semifinals. In my opinion, now we have more “experienced Players, players with more important games. Whether it’s for the club or the national team,” Kane said.
“I think we are in a good moment. We know that we still have a lot of work to do. We can’t just say that we will win the game because we have not won the big game for a long time,” the English Center concluded. Tao
