Supply chain solutions and e-commerce logistics provider Ingram Micro Commerce & Lifecycle Services will be the operations manager of Zalando’s new fulfillment center in Bleiswijk near Rotterdam. The DC was announced in 2019.
The fulfillment center covers an area of 140,000 square meters and is the largest location in the European logistics network. The first parcels are expected to be shipped from Bleiswijk in the fourth quarter of 2021.
Zalando began construction of its first Dutch fulfillment center in 2019. Once the fulfillment center is up and running, Zalando expects to shorten Benelux’s delivery time by more than one day.
The location of Bleiswijk was developed by a joint venture between Somerset Capital Partners and USAA Realco-Europe. For the construction, Zalando invested in sustainable solutions and installed solar panels on the roof of the building.
Ingram Micro expects to create approximately 1,500 jobs in the medium term.
