Lawyer of former US police officer Derek Chauvin (Derek Chauvin) On trial Before George Floyd’s death, he had begun to defend his clients. They talked to witnesses to support their theory that Freud died of drug use and pre-existing health problems instead of Shavin’s death by pressing his knee on his neck for nearly 10 minutes. They also took an expert to court, who said that Chauvin did correctly succumb to Freud.
Senior police officers in Minneapolis, including the police commissioner, stated earlier in the trial that Chauvin did use too much force, so walked away. The public prosecutor summoned the doctor to say that Freud died of insufficient oxygen because of being trapped on the ground.
The first witness to be defended was the officer who arrested Freud in 2019. He said he should use a weapon and pulled him out of the car he was in. Freud would not follow the instructions of the police to raise his hands.
Freud allegedly confessed to a nurse who checked Freud during that arrest and stated in court that he was addicted to painkillers and that he was intoxicated at the time. Freud found traces of anesthetic in his blood after his death.
Violence experts believe that kneeling is justified
The third witness is a former California police officer who specializes in the use of force. He said that Shavin followed his work instructions in his dealings with Freud and believed that his behavior was reasonable.
He compared it with the situation where the police used electric shock weapons to fight the suspect. The suspect fell and hit his head to death. “This is not fatal force. This is a fatal accident.”
It is not clear whether Shavin will explain himself.
