Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš stated that the Czech Republic hopes to begin vaccination against covid-19 for people over the age of 16 by June 1st at the latest.
Currently, people over 55 years old and young chronic patients in this EU country/region can be vaccinated, and registration for people between 50 and 54 years old will begin on Wednesday.
In the Czech Republic, a country with a population of 10.7 million, the number of people vaccinated with covid-19 recently exceeded the threshold of 1 million, and 2.17 million received the first dose of the vaccine.
In the Czech Republic, the population between the ages of 50 and 54 is approximately 690,000. The ČTK agency quoted Babiša as reporting that if the vaccination is carried out as planned, the age limit can be lowered by 5 years per week.
The number of new cases in the country continues to decline. According to data on Saturday, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants dropped to 137 last week, and a total of 29,343 people died of covida-19.
