In the village of Nowa Biala in southern Poland, dozens of buildings caught fire.This was reported by local media, including TV channels Polish Satellite News Agency.
The fire broke out at around 6:20 pm and spread rapidly because the buildings in the village were very close, some of which were made of wood.According to the anchor TVN24 21 families and 20 farms were affected.
Approximately 85 fire brigades and 400 firefighters are extinguishing the fire. The fire has stopped spreading, but the fire department is expected to spend several hours to put out the fire.
Village protection battle
According to TVN24, 5 people have been sent to the hospital: 4 of them inhaled smoke or burned, and 1 fell from the roof. It is not clear how many animals survived the fire.
Prime Minister Morawiecki wrote on social media that in addition to the European Championship battle between Spain and Poland, there is another “perhaps more difficult battle” to protect the village. “The situation is serious,” he said. “We are working hard to help the affected residents.”
