LUKA DONČIĆ has confirmed that he will join the Slovenian national team, which hopes to make his Olympic debut in the qualifiers in Kaunas at the end of June and early July.
“This is my next goal to get Slovenia to participate in the Olympics. I am going back to Slovenia and I will start training again, so there is no rest,” Doncic said via video conference after the NBA season with the Dallas Mavericks.
In his third season, Doncic averaged 27.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 8.6 assists to become the leader of the Mavericks.
Dallas withdrew from the championship after being eliminated by the Los Angeles Clippers in the first seven games of the Western Conference playoffs.
The Slovenian national team started training at the Zreche base in Slovenia on June 10, and went to Lithuania on June 25 for a qualifying match. The competition was held in Kaunas from June 29 to July 4, Slovenia and Lithuania, Poland, South Korea, Venezuela and Angola.
