The Croatian government announced that Croatia supports North Macedonia and the EU in opening accession negotiations as soon as possible.
At the meeting held in Banski Dvori, the high-quality relationship between the friendly countries of the two countries was confirmed.
The statement stated that Plenkovic emphasized Croatia’s full support for North Macedonia and the European Union to start accession negotiations as soon as possible.
He reminded that Croatia expressed strong support for the Europeanization of North Macedonia and the continued expansion of the EU at the Zagreb summit during the presidency of the European Council in May 2020.
They also exchanged views on the current situation in North Macedonia and surrounding areas.
The statement said that both sides have expressed their desire to further strengthen economic cooperation. As two NATO members, Croatia and North Macedonia are ready to deepen cooperation in the military industry.
Bulgaria opposes opening negotiations with North Macedonia for accession. No progress is expected until new elections are held in Bulgaria next month.
