A study conducted by the Indonesian Ministry of Health showed that the vaccine against covida-19 from the Chinese manufacturer Sinovac Biotech is effective in preventing deaths and is effective in preventing hospitalization rates of 96% of medical workers.
Research leader Pandji Dhewantara said on Wednesday that this was the result of monitoring 120,000 health workers who were vaccinated in Jakarta between January and March.
Globally, the CoronaVac vaccine’s third trial had mixed results, but Pandji said the study showed that the vaccine prevented symptomatic covid-19 in 94% of subjects.
According to data from the Indonesian Medical Association, since the start of vaccination this year, the number of doctors who died of covida-19 has dropped significantly.
In January, 63 doctors died of respiratory diseases, the highest level since the beginning of the pandemic. This number was halved in February, and 8 doctors died in April.
Promising results were released after the third phase of the study, which showed that the vaccine is 64% effective in Indonesia.
However, the effective rate of CoronaVac is 91.25% in Turkey and 50.4% in Brazil.
Indonesia is working hard to vaccinate the population, but so far it has largely relied on the transportation of vaccines in China.
According to data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, approximately 9 million people have been vaccinated. The Ministry of Health’s goal is to vaccinate 181 million people by January 2022.
Indonesia has the highest number of symbiotic deaths in the entire Southeast Asia. Among the 1.7 million deaths confirmed to be infected, 45,090 died, and medical staff were the hardest hit.
According to the independent Lapor-Covid-19 initiative, by April 22, at least 900 Indonesian health workers had died of covid-19.
