According to the U.S. District Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts, a California man was arrested after threatening Merriam-Webster, Inc. with violence over its inclusive language regarding gender.
Jeremy David Hanson, 34, of Rossmoor, California, was arrested and charged with one count of interstate communication of threats to commit violence, according to a press release. He has been released and will appear in court on April 29.
Hanson was accused of posting threatening comments on Merriam-Webster’s website and sending threatening messages through the company’s “contact me” feature.
Hanson left comments in October 2021.
