British Prime Minister Johnson married Kelly Symonds. According to Johnson’s office, the ceremony held yesterday at Westminster Abbey was private and kept secret.
After the sudden closure of Westminster in the afternoon, the British media have reported on the marriage last night and tonight. Onlookers also saw Simmonds walking out of the limousine in a white dress shortly afterwards.
Other politicians congratulated the couple:
According to many media reports, various confidential measures have been adopted for the wedding. The guests were not invited to the ceremony until the last minute, and even the highest officials around Johnson were not notified.
In a statement, Johnson’s office talked about a small ceremony. “Next summer, the couple will celebrate the wedding with family and friends.”
Due to the coronavirus, a maximum of 30 guests are allowed to attend the wedding in the UK.
According to British media reports, 56-year-old Johnson and 33-year-old Symonds have been together since the beginning of 2019. Symonds is the head of information for the Conservative Party. When Johnson became prime minister two years ago, she moved with him into 10 Downing Street. Soon after, they announced their engagement, and last year they had a son, Wilfred Johnson.
This is Johnson’s third marriage. His previous marriage ended in 2018. In a radio interview in 2019, he declined to disclose how many children he has.
