Stuttgart Football Club forward Silas Wamanjituka recently confided to the club that he was the victim of a scam by a former agent and his last name was not Vamanjituka at all.
Officials in Stuttgart wrote in a statement today that the player’s real name is Silas Katoompa Mwom, who was born on October 6, 1998 in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This means that he is one year older than they thought.
Allegedly, this false identity was invented by Silas’ former agent. He then took the 19-year-old football player to Paris and changed his surname and date of birth. The club believes that this is done to break the link between the football player and his hometown club from Congo, and they will not pay him compensation.
Stuttgart has notified the German Football League (DFL) and the German Football Association (DFB) that the Baden-Württemberg club wants Silas to obtain a new real-name game license.
“I have spent the past few years in fear, and I am also worried about my family in Congo. Discovering this story is a difficult step for me,” Silas said.
The player joined the Bundesliga Stuttgart from the French second club Paris Football Club in 2019.
