Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro announced that the Minister of Health is preparing a measure to allow vaccinated people to no longer need to wear a mask.
Bolsonaro said in a tourist event that quarantine should only target infected people, otherwise it would oppose blockade and social exclusion, although Brazil is the second largest country in the world in terms of death rates from the coronavirus pandemic.
Regarding Brazil’s tourism industry, Bolsonaro said that the pandemic put the tourism industry in “intensive care”, but it is now recovering.
According to data from the Brazilian Ministry of Health, in the past 24 hours, the country has reported 88,092 new “novel” coronavirus cases and 2,504 deaths due to the new coronavirus.
As a result, the total number of infections in the South American country increased to more than 17.2 million, while the official death toll rose to slightly more than 482,000.
