The central bank imposed a fine of nearly 1.5 million euros.
The Bank of Portugal (BdP) announced on Monday that it has initiated 85 administrative violation procedures in the first quarter of 2021 and decided on 26 with a fine of approximately 1.5 million euros.
According to the “Summary of Portuguese Bank Sanctions Activities” in the first quarter of this year, of the 26 cases decided, 12 were related to prudential violations.
He added that in the rest, six violations of respectful behavior, three violations of cash recycling rules, three violations related to illegal financial activities, and two violations of duties related to the prevention of money laundering and the financing of terrorism.
The Central Bank said that in the context of these decisions, a total of 1,463,250 euros was imposed, of which 34,500 euros were suspended.
