A gun attack occurred at Austin East Magnet High School in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Knoxville police confirmed that a teenager was killed in the attack and a policeman was shot and taken to the hospital.
The policeman was injured in the hip and was taken to the hospital for emergency surgery. Local media reported that his injuries were not life-threatening.
The local TV station WTHR reported that a person was arrested, but it is still unclear if it was the attacker.
A powerful police force arrived at the scene immediately, and the police posted a photo on Twitter from the scene of the attack, which also showed an ambulance.
The police received reports that an armed man was walking through the school around 3:15 pm local time. Immediately after the report, the police entered the school, and they were also shot. The police later said that the officer was hit by at least one bullet, adding that so far, there were no other casualties.
A source familiar with the situation told the local Knoxville news sentry that the situation was no longer “active”, but the police continued to beg the public to avoid attacking the scene.
A place has been established on a nearby baseball field where parents can meet with students who were not injured in the attack.
Bob Thomas, a school supervisor in Knox County, confirmed the attack on Twitter and added that the school building has been protected
Thomas wrote: “The school is protected, and students who were not involved in the incident are released to their families.”
He added that the authorities are collecting information about the “tragic situation” and added that more information will be released later.
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee said before receiving an education briefing that Austin-East Magnet High School “is facing a difficult and tragic situation” and asked for prayers for the victims of the attack.
