At least 30 people were killed in a train collision in southern Pakistan. Two express trains carrying an unknown number of passengers collided. It is said that 15 to 20 passengers were trapped.
One of the trains derailed and was hit by another train shortly afterwards. According to a local police officer in Sindh province, civilians, rescuers and police are busy transporting dead and injured passengers to nearby hospitals. It is not clear what caused the train to derail.
In Pakistan, train accidents happen frequently, and some governments neglect maintenance. For example, the signal system of the Pakistan Railway is outdated, and the track condition in many places is not good.
