Apple is introducing more privacy options for its users, which may scare marketers. For example, websites can no longer use IP addresses as unique IDs to build configuration files.
For several years, Safari has enabled smart tracking prevention to prevent unwanted tracking. This protection uses machine learning and does not affect the way the website works. This year, this feature will be further expanded, and IP addresses will also be blocked by trackers.
If you have granted an app permission to access your location, photos, camera, microphone, and contacts, the new privacy report will show the number of times the app has used that permission in the past 7 days. If this does not meet the regulations, you can take action against it.
With the help of privacy protection in the email, the sender can no longer use the invisible pixels sent with the email to collect data. Apple users can also prevent the sender from knowing when you open the email. It will block your IP address so that it cannot be linked to your other activities on the Internet, nor can it be used to determine your location.
The paid version of iCloud where Apple users store files and settings also offers new privacy features, such as iCloud Private Relay and Hide My Email Address.
Private Relay is a new privacy service on the Internet that ensures that all traffic from your device is encrypted. This means that no one can access the data during the process between the user and the website. Not even Apple or Internet provider.
Then all user requests are routed through two independent Internet relays. The first one assigns an anonymous IP address, from which the area can be inferred, but not the precise location. The second decrypts the URL the user wants to visit and sends the user there. By separating these different types of information, the privacy of users is guaranteed. After all, no one can know who the user is and which websites they visit.
Using “Hide My Email” based on “Sign in with Apple”, you can create a unique random email address to share with others. Emails arriving at such addresses will be forwarded to your physical address. This way you don’t have to reveal your personal email address.
