The US Department of Justice stated that an American pharmacist admitted to deliberately removing modern vaccines from the refrigerator. Although he knew they must be stored at low temperatures, he was still sentenced to three years in prison.
Court documents show that Steven R. Brandenburg, 46, deliberately removed vaccine bottles from the refrigerator, even though he knew they must be stored at a certain temperature before use.
The pharmacist must pay him $83,300 in compensation to a hospital in Wisconsin.
He took out the bottle during two night shifts in December. He put them out of the refrigerator for a few hours and then returned them. These vials are used for vaccination the next day.
The Ministry of Justice said in a statement that a total of 57 people were vaccinated from vials taken from Brandenburg.
Brian Boynton, Deputy Attorney General of the Civil Service Department of the Ministry of Justice, said: “Intentionally sabotaging vaccine doses during a national public health crisis is a serious crime.”
Due to the plea agreement, Brandenburg expressed doubts about vaccines, especially modern vaccines.
More than 124 million doses of Moderna have been injected in the United States. Two doses of the vaccine are 90% effective against symptomatic covid-19 and 95% effective against severe diseases.
