Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden met yesterday. This is Biden’s first meeting since he assumed the presidency of the United States.
The conference was held in Geneva, and you can read more about that historic conference here.
On one occasion, Putin was clearly annoyed by a reporter’s question about dealing with political opponents.
“If your political opponent is dead, in prison, poisoned to death, it is not sending a message that you don’t want a political enemy. What are you afraid of?” an American ABC reporter asked.
Putin began to mention the riots in the Capitol on January 6, and said that Russia does not want this kind of chaos within its borders.
“People rebelled and entered Congress with political demands. They were threatened with 20 to 25 years in prison…Why? I still don’t know. We sympathize with what is happening in the United States, but we don’t want it to happen. It happens. In Russia,” Putin replied.
By the way, the meeting lasted about three hours, there was no joint lunch, and the press conference was separate.
