South Korean legendary football player Cho Sang Cheol died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 49.
Jo was a key player in the 2002 Japan World Cup semi-final national team. The midfielder scored the South Korean team’s second goal in the first round of the World Cup against Poland, and then entered the dream team of this tournament. From 1994 to 2005, he entered the national team 124 times and succeeded 18 times.
Joe won the Korean championship with Ussan in 1996 and 2005, and won the Japanese championship with the Yokohama Mariners in 2003 and 2004. He used to be the head coach of Incheon United.
According to a statement from the National Association on Monday, his illness was exposed in November 2019.
