A train derailed north of the Egyptian capital Cairo. Authorities reported that at least 11 people were killed and at least 98 people were injured.
In the afternoon, the train departed from Cairo to Banha city. At least four trucks derailed outside the capital. The photos show that some trucks have overturned.
The injured mainly suffered fractures, bruises and cuts. One of them told the Associated Press that passengers were surprised when the train suddenly accelerated. He said that in the next moment, the travelers fell over each other.
The cause of the accident is still unknown. The train driver, assistants and other officials were arrested in connection with the investigation.
